Nutritional recipe from Ragi for the babies
Hello all, welcome to my new blog. In this blog, I am going to tell you one good recipe from ragi flour for your weaning child. A child's birth is the best gift in our life. Those are the happiest moments to cherish. The full one year is challenging specially the sixth month introduction of solid foods to the baby. Mothers are often in dilemma which foods to introduce to the weaning baby. There comes an important role of research by moms about different variety of nutritional foods for the babies.
I also did a lot of googling for my daughter's weaning food. We all know that Ragi is often called as finger millet or Nachni. It is extremely nutritious cereal as it helps baby's overall growth and development. Reason being:
- Ragi is the rich source of fibre.
- It contains huge amount of iron and calcium
- It is low in fat.
- It is considered as the best weaning food post 5th month completion for babies which can be given everyday as it is easily digestible.
And this is the recipe which I introduced for my daughter when she completed five months:
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 Kg raw NACHNI / RAGI / FINGER MILLET
1 Tsp each - WHEAT + TOOR DAL+ MOONG DAL+ URAD DAL+ MASOOR DAL+ CHANA DAL
1 small cup dry fruit nuts - CASHEWS, WALNUTS & ALMONDS (together)
RECIPE:
Wash all the ingredients properly and separately in a container. After washing, soak all the cereals, pulses and dry fruits in water overnight. Next day, take them all out of water and let it gets dried up in the sunlight. Keep it covered with a light cloth so that sunlight reaches inside the container whole day. You may keep them in the sunlight for the second day also if you feel there is little moisture in it. Make sure they are fully dried up.
Take a mixer jar, grind the dried up mix properly to the flour. And the flour is ready. Take this flour in a separate container for future use. And this is the enhanced version of Ragi flour packed with cereals, pulses and dry fruits to get additional benefits.
Whenever you want to use it as cerelac, use it with water. Boil 2 tsp of the flour with 1 cup of water. Always ensure to adjust its consistency according to the child. Few babies can gallop thick consistency foods and few likes flowing consistency. My daughter used to like flowing consistency foods at that age. And you are the best one who knows the kind of consistency for your baby.
For making porridge from the same flour, add water + jaggery accordingly + bit of ghee. Few babies like sweet more than normal. Ensure ghee should be in a very nominal amount as babies have weak digestion in that age.
So, once you prepare this for the baby, you will understand how much quantity is required every time. Hope you will enjoy making this super food for your super child .
