How to make your kids busy or active during lockdown and vacations

Hello everyone, I am writing this blog after a long time. There was a big break for me in writing blogs. Reason being, I travelled to my parent's place from Hyderabad to New Delhi. It was a moment of excitement for me as I was going to meet them almost after 2 years. So, we, i.e my daughter and me, packed up the luggage and landed to Delhi Airport. Finally, I met my parents. Everyone was excited to meet us. We have a joint family there also. Long talks and gossips were normal among the cousins and siblings because everyone had gone through the rough patch of one year (credit goes to Covid-19). So, it was fun altogether......

This trip was bit different from my previous trips...There were so many ups and downs this time. Meanwhile, I got caught by Covid-19 virus... So, really didn't get time to write blogs....

As now, I am feeling better so wanted to share some piece of information on how to make your kids busy or active during lockdown and vacations. Gone are those days when we used to take our kids for a holiday or to a water park or any kind of picnic spot. So, it is difficult to manage kids at home but we have to keep them active.

Following are some activities that we as parents can do to make them busy:

 Art and Craft activities

Children should be encouraged to do a variety of art and craft sessions. This will inspire creativity among them and doing so, they can keep themselves busy for longer hours and thereby reducing their screen time.

                                                         Reading books

As I mentioned earlier also that books are your best friends! Inculcating reading among the kids not only improves their vocabulary but communication skills also. So, get them to this habit and see the wonderful change in your child.

Music and Dance Activities

Keeping our kids busy with music and dance activities is a good option to keep their talent up. This way they will develop confidence and indulging in dance activities will make them physically fit.

Playing Board Games

Kids like to play, play and play. So, to boost their mental ability, playing board games like Crossword, Business, Ludo and Brain vita etc is a good option.

                                                       Gardening

Gardening means grooming a garden, planting seeds and growing them grow into an adult plant. Kids should be involved in gardening as this experience will not only make them socially responsible but also attached with nature. They will feel good from inside and in better mood.

Yoga

Yoga helps kids to grow mentally and physically. It is not necessary to make them involve in hard core yoga but bits of breathing exercises will also help them. Kids will be more focussed and balanced in their life.

Flameless cooking

Last but not the least is Involving your child in flameless cooking i.e making salads, baking cakes & cookies, making raitas, preparing lemonades etc. This kind of cooking will enhance their joy as they will feel good when they will eat those things prepared by them. Much better when they will get recognition from their parents.

Thanks for reading. I hope this topic would be useful to many parents who want to engage their kids and are struggling to keep them active during lockdown. Please do comment, if you like my post. See ya!
